Battletoads gets an official release date – August 20

There’s a new Battletoads in town, and it’s coming to Steam, Xbox, Xbox Game Pass, and Windows 10 on August 20.

This isn’t a remaster or re-release – it’s a brand new beat ’em up developed by Diala Studios and published by Rare. We’ve got 3-player couch co-op here (how about online?) and what looks like a wide variety of stages – including speeder bike sections and a top-down space shooter stage.

As for me, it looks a bit too much like Flash games back in the 2000s. And maybe a bit like Day of the Tentacle (shameless review plug here).

Halo Infinite will have free-to-play multiplayer and 120FPS on Xbox Series X

I’m a little disappointed that an announcement of free multiplayer is a thing now, but there it is. Halo Infinite will sport free-to-play multiplayer and also throw in 120FPS for Xbox Series X consoles. Now how about those shiny surfaces..?

RPCS3 latest preview build brings free online multiplayer via fake PSN server

RPCS2 is still making some great strides with Playstation 3 emulation. In its latest update, the team announced that the latest preview build is able to connect to an private, open-source PSN server clone in order to get multiplayer working in certain games such as Demon’s Souls and Bomberman Ultra.

Those two games are currently the only titles that work reliably with the new PSN.

League of Legends Worlds 2020 to be held in Shanghai starting September 25

At a time when the global coronavirus pandemic seems intent on stopping all major sporting events (thanks MLB), Riot Games is forging on with plans to hold the League of Legends World Championships at the Pudong Soccer Stadium in Shanghai, with the first stage starting on September 25.

Normally, there are group stages that are held in multiple cities and countries, but this year it’s all Shanghai. Early stages won’t have a studio audience.

AOC amendment to prevent military from using Twitch and esports to recruit fails in House

An amendment introduced by Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (better known as AOC) that would have prevented the military from recruiting via Twitch and other esports was voted down in the U.S. House of Representatives today.
