Spike Chunsoft releases first episode of Dangan TV for Danganronpa’s 10th Anniversary

As part of Danganronpa’s 10th anniversary, Spike Chunsoft has released the first episode of a new Youtube series called Dangan TV: Hope Keeps on Going!

The first episode is hosted by Megumi Ogata [voice actress for Makoto Naegi, the main character of Danganronpa 1] and also features Yoshinori Tersawa [series producer] and Kazutaka Kodaka [series creator and scenario writer] riffing on the development of the games. If you’re a Danganronpa fan (and who isn’t?!), it’s worth hearing tidbits about how Kodaka came up with the concept behind the trails and how the original title was “15-Year-Old Massacre Something Something”.

Danganronpa is sort of a weird chimera game made of a visual novel, courtroom trial, and random mini-games. The story is fantastic.

It’s also available on mobile, so you have no excuses.

NBA 2K21 requires you to buy the Mamba Edition to get access to current and next-gen game versions

In today’s dick move of the day, 2k Games will require you to buy the Mamba Forever Edition of NBA 2K21 for $99.99 if you want to be able to play 2K21 on both current and next-gen consoles.

Interestingly enough, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will cost ten dollars more than the current-gen versions.

Apple removes over 3,000 games from the Chinese App Store missing licenses

In an earlier post, I mentioned that Apple was looking to close the loophole that allowed developers to sell monetized games on the Chinese App Store without having a license. Let’s say that the loophole has now been closed.

Today, Apple showed off the firepower of their fully-armed and operational battle station removed more than 3,000 games from the App Store that failed to comply with the order requiring developers to have a license.

Normally, the App Store removes around 200 games per day, so this is a bit of a big deal.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is coming to PC on August 7, 2020

We knew it was coming, but Guerrilla Games has confirmed the release date of the PC port of Horizon: Zero Dawn: August 7, 2020.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is an open-world action adventure game that puts you in the shoes of a young Nora brave in a world overrun with mechanical beasts. It’s a must-play game for PS4 (and absurdly cheap for the system now), or you can wait for the PC port.

Capcom to bring Mega Man franchise to VR with new arcade game

The good news: Mega Man is coming to VR. The bad news: it’s only at a specific game center in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

The game is Mega Man VR: Targeted Virtual World!! and it’s based on Mega Man 11. Gematsu has the official story:

A peaceful virtual reality world where everyone was having fun playing. But Dr. Wily is planning to hack into and conquer that virtual reality world! Equipped with the virtual reality goggles developed by Dr. Light, Mega Man will dive into the virtual reality world and put a stop to Dr. Wily’s evil plans.

While there’s no guarantee here, it’s possible that Mega Man VR could see a release in PSVR at some point (see Resident Evil 7).
