Square Enix releases trailer for NieR Re[in]carnation mobile game

A new NieR game is coming to mobile. Square Enix released a short trailer for NieR Re[in]carnation featuring a young girl and her ghost companion running around empty castles. The actual game looks to be 3D interspersed with some 2D side-scrolling sections (and the animation looks honestly awful here) and a turn-based combat system.

Despite spending God knows how many hours playing NieR: Automata, I’ll admit that I still understand almost nothing about the lore, or even what the hell was going on during most of that game.

Death Stranding PC available in less than 12 hours

Hideo Kojima heard your pleas, and his controversial title Death Stranding will be available for purchase on Steam and Epic in less than 12 hours. Published the 505 Games, Death Stranding comes with a few PC-specfiic improvements such as “HIGH FRAME RATE, PHOTO MODE and ULTRA-WIDE MONITOR SUPPORT. Also includes cross-over content from Valve Corporation’s HALF-LIFE series.”

At this point, I’ve heard so much about it that I’m not even sure if I want to play it or not. Something about carrying around babies, turning your pee into grenades and spending hours trying to balance supplies on your back?

My eyes kind of hurt looking at this thing.

LEGO teases new set made up of an NES and a TV screen playing Super Mario Bros. 1

In an unexpected collaboration between LEGO and Nintendo, there will be a new LEGO set (71374, 2646 pieces) that consists of an old-school NES, controller, TV and stand. Best of all, the TV has a scene from Super Mario Bros. 1. According to GameSpot, the set will be available for 229 Euro (~$260).

Get your free Watch Dogs 2 game from Ubisoft

Ubisoft’s master plan to get people to watch its Forward event was simple: make it so people had to log into Uplay during the event to get their free copy of Watch Dogs 2. Unsurprisingly, the servers couldn’t handle the traffic, and everything went to crap. Thankfully, Ubisoft decided to post a support page with an easy-peasy registration form, so enjoy.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla reportedly won’t feature side quests

GameSpot reports that, for Valhalla, “Ubisoft has completely changed its approach to side quests”, in that “traditional” ones don’t really exist in the game. It’s a bold move, but Ubisoft’s plan is to use World Events instead.

I’m a fan of the idea, because at this point I can’t really stand fetch quests or go-over-there-and-kill-50-bats or something equally time-consuming. Quest design really doesn’t feel like it’s evolved in the last 30 years of gaming.
