Just finished adding my review of The Last of Us Part II. Final verdict: it’s solid, but I can’t recommend it if you’re only playing it for the story.

And now, it’s on to the news!

SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE gets a teaser trailer, releases July 16

MIND CONTROL DELETE is the next game in the SUPERHOT franchise, and best of all: it’s free for all current SUPERHOT owners until launch. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE SUPERHOT VR OWNERS. As a SUPERHOT VR owner, I just felt like I needed to mention that. Oof.

SUPERHOT is the action-puzzle game that’s famous for, among other things, obnoxiously large bolded text. Well, that and its enemies-move-only-when-you-do gameplay.

Pokémon Go now has a feature that will spawn one Pokémon just for you every day

I’m not sure if Niantic is just feeling generous or this is a desperation move, but a new feature added to Pokémon Go now gives each player their own special encounter, once a day.

Brawlhalla Mobile available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store

You can now pre-register for the mobile release of Brawlhalla, Blue Mammoth Games’ Smash-Bros-inspired free-to-play platform-fighter.

I’m personally kind of curious as to how Blue Mammoth handled controls on a mobile platform.

Tetris for mobile launches with Primetime, Royale, Together and Solo Marathon modes

And in more mobile news, the official Tetris game is now available on both the App Store and Google Play. This release includes a couple of interesting modes: Primetime (a daily tournament for real money), Royale (Tetris 99), Together (a Royale game just for you and your friends, there’s also onboard voice chat), and Solo Marathon (standard one-player Tetris).

Geoff Keighley’s interactive documentary Half-Life: Alyx – Final Hours is out on Steam

Geoff Keighley is back with another entry in his THE FINAL HOURS series of behind-the-scenes game documentaries, and this time the subject is Half-Life: Alyx, Valve’s latest VR title.

You may have already seen some juicy tidbits floating around the Internet, like how Valve started working on Half-Life 3 only to cancel it later.

Sony invests $250 million for 1.4% minority stake in Epic Games

Is Epic Games – Fortnite creator, game developer, publisher and retail store – worth $17.86 billion dollars? Well, it is now, after Sony and Epic announced the former’s investment of $250 million into Epic for a 1.4% stake.

You might also remember that Tencent Holdings owns 40% of Epic Games after putting in $330 million back in 2012.

Epic Games didn’t say what it would use the money for. But it’s a good bet the company will continue to make acquisitions, invest in its Epic Games Store, expand Fortnite, and drive toward the creation of the Metaverse. The latter is the universe of virtual worlds that are all interconnected, like in novels such as Snow Crash and Ready Player One. Sweeney has said this is one of his goals.
